ABA
is a system of autism treatment that is based on behaviorist theories which
state that desired behaviors can be learned through a system of reward and
consequence. In this instance ABA therapy Houston is used to minimize tantrums and outbursts or use words to make an
appeal, to teach a child to sit in a quiet manner, or wait their turn in the
playing field. It can also be used as a tool to teach both complex and simple
skills. For example, ABA can be utilized to reward a child for brushing his
teeth in a correct manner, or for sharing a toy with a playmate.
The
main goal of Focused ABA is to target one or two specific behaviors and it also
offers direct services to the client. These targets can include reducing or
acquiring certain specific behaviors. The objective of Focused ABA services is to identify a limited number of targeted
behavior areas, such as curtailing certain dangerous behavior or improving
social skills. The range of Focused treatments can vary from 5 to 25 hours per
week of direct therapy. It can also be suitable for those children who are
attaining most age-appropriate milestones but need assistance in one or two
areas.
